Accidentally In Love

"ACCIDENTALLY IN LOVE"

That's the musical drama by UTAR Drama & Public Speaking Society last night (2nd April 2009). It's nice with good music, good songs, good lines, good actors & actresses, good production crews, good designs for the clothes and most importantly it is really entertaining. Its the first ever musical production by UTAR Perak Campus and it is a success. Congratulations to the team...
And now a lil' bit about the drama...

"The drama is about two couples, well, actually one coz the other one is not really a couple...yet. The couple, named Kyle and Sophie is getting married soon (as in very soon....in 2 weeks time). As the news travels, it reached Sarah, the girl who loves Kyle but is also having feeling for her best friend, Ethan (which is my housemate, Nathan...hahaha). Lucky for her that Ethan too has feelings for her but.....he never make any moves (what a guy....can't he get the courage to tell her. What a coward guy).
Here comes all the dancing and singing....hip hop, fairies dancing, the lead actors and actresses singing....
Then, there's three "nosy" fairies that goes around busybodying. The news happens to reach them and they informed their king, King Oberon (OMG....Oberon) and their queen, Queen Titania (looks like Titanic to me..haha) about this situation and they decide that the couples all need help. Unfortunately, they sprinkled the love dust on the wrong girl (How can those fairies do this mistake...how can they mistook Sophie for Sarah..lol).
So, here comes all the dancing and singing again....
As the king found out about the mistake that the fairies did, he is really mad...but always got teased by the queen (i wonder why)....so he stepped in to help solve the problem. And then, everyone got a happy ending, Kyle and Sophie, Ethan and Sarah..."

A Hug Anyone?

How about a hug?
Sunday with T. SELVA

A hug can melt a heart of stone, break barriers of hatred and ill feeling.

HAVE you ever wondered what a hug can do for you? For each one that you give out, you receive one in return. So when did you last hug your child, family member or friend?
You may not realise that your hug can do miracles because it has powerful bonding and healing qualities.

Nice touch: Hugging someone reflects care and builds bonds between two individuals.
This is because energy exchanges create an electromagnetic flow that can temporarily heal or at least bring someone into greater understanding.

Well, I was moved by how it was promoted by a therapist and a conscious living group at the recent inaugural Health and Happiness Festival in Kuala Lumpur.
The mood of happiness and good feeling prevailed in the atmosp
here when Douglas Leong, a multi-dimension healer, greeted almost everyone he came in contact with a hug at the two-day event.
He was spontaneous in his response to people whom he met and he felt that his hug gesture was curative and a transfer of positive energy.

To Leong, the sign was a natural expression of showing love and care and the act is a tool of transformation for those having issues and providing others with goodness.
Also at the happy festival was Clove & Clive, a local non-profit organisation which promotes “conscious loving and living”. They brought with them three-fold cards showing what hugs can do and distributed them free.
According to the group, the message was part of its community caring project to create hugging as a way of life.

Another individual who I have great admiration for is world-renowned hugging saint Mata Amritanandamayi, better known as Amma, who has so far hugged over 28 million people to pass on her love and compassion.
Generally, a hug is a positive exchange of energy between two or more people. It provides solace and there’s a remedial feeling when you have someone hold you in their arms.
A hug is also a way to share both good and bad times with others and it can create a connection that cannot be expressed in words. Even a small hug generally makes everyone feel good, safe, secure, lift spirits and make us smile although some people are not comfortable with the physical embrace.
Many people do not realise that touch therapy is important to our health and well-being, and I find it particularly with children.
I find it totally unacceptable when some parents lament that hugging too often may spoil the child. Each time we get linked with a touch we are actually developing a better understanding of their needs through the unspoken language.
Although some cultures may shy away from physical contact or consider it a taboo, hugging can work wonders on any individual and it is more powerful than a handshake.
Research has shown that hugging can be used as an aid in treating some physical illness as it has proven to bring positive physiological changes and helps in relieving pain.
According to experts, our skin act as an antenna (sense organ) and it is sensitive to touch and the moment two bodies get connected, it gives a magical attachment.
Since early days, reaching out and touching someone reflect care and it builds bonds between two individuals.
And when it is done with purity and sincerity the touch turns enchanting and removes all aches, pain, sadness, loneliness, and stress.
As for me, I look forward for my therapeutic hugs from my one-year-old niece M. Yeshsmita every week as I found them to be pure and loving.
T. Selva appears live on TRAXXfm for the TRAXX 101’s motivational segment on The Art of Happy Living every last Friday of the month with DJ Jezza.

Purpose and benefits of hugs
• A greeting when we meet to say hello or goodbye.
• It can hold us up when life gets us down.
• Make us smile instead of frown.
• Hugging brings us closer to each other.
• A hug can be given for no reason at all.
• It is one of life’s most pleasant things.
• It provides comfort and protection.
• It helps in promoting self-esteem.
• It opens up new avenues of thought.
• Hugging is a nice way to start the day.
• It is free and cost nothing and it means so much to both parties.

Message of hug
A hug is so simple, yet so magical.
It is entirely free of charge, yet so priceless.
The gesture is so natural and irrational, leaving the beholder joyful and speechless.
And in giving a hug, one receives another in kind.
A hug when given represents the gift of the heart;
A hug when readily received, bestows in both, completion of art.
Let a hug promote one’s good health.
Hugs are likened to a mountain of wealth and dissolving conflict and creating friendship.
A hug trespasses all boundaries the moment two souls become one.
Releasing all judgements and customaries, a common sharing is now done.
So let this New Year season, together with all the gifts and revelries be complete with hugs for no reason, as we meet and depart with fond memories.

Earth Hour!! Let's Continue Our Support...

Earth Hour has passed. Does everyone did what they should do? Switch off all the lights...did they? Well, some of the houses that are aware of this did but not all...sad to say that many people are not aware of this. There are a few houses in my housing area here did, but most of them who did so are students and they are aware of it. I'm HAPPY to say that I DID IT!!! I OFF THE LIGHTS IN MY HOUSE!!!! YEAH....

Why is that people are so not aware of this thing? It is to help save the earth. Our earth is facing doom soon and yet people are still not aware of it. It means that Earth Hour is still not a success yet in Malaysia. Hopefully next year, more people will be aware of it. Let's Save The Earth!!!! Hope that next year will have more people join in. More event will take place and hope that my uni will take part too...its sad to see that my uni did not do anything for this event. :-(

New Rules...

Yeah...finally all presentations are done!!!! And now I'm left with one assignment and 2 tests to do. After that I am to concentrate on my finals already. I better do well or not I'm going to get it from myself. Hopefully I can do well this time. I need to brush up my studies!!!! Ok....why am I saying so its because UTAR no more resitting papers!!! Only can repeat, which means if someone fails a subject, he/she has to attend class, tutorials, practicals for that subject again next semester. Which means waste of time and also waste of money. Why does UTAR have to change to such rules? Means more students will die from this move...do they know that students are stress enough and yet they gave such rules.....which means more stress for the students...well, we can't do anything except work harder. Good Luck to all UTAR students.

Got to get back to my studies now. =)

The Power of Positive Thinking

Key Point
  • You are what you think. You feel what you want.
Why Think Positively?
  • All of our feelings, beliefs and knowledge are based on our internal thoughts, both conscious and subconscious. We are in control, whether we know it or not.
  • We can be positive or negative, enthusiastic or dull, active or passive.
  • The biggest difference between people is their attitudes. For some, learning is enjoyable and exciting. For others, learning is a drudgery. For many, learning is just okay, something required on the road to a job.

"Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."
Abraham Lincoln

  • Our present attitudes are habits, built from the feedback of parents, friends, society and self, that form our self-image and our world-image.
  • These attitudes are maintained by the inner conversations we constantly have with ourselves, both consciously and subconsciously.
  • The first step in changing our attitudes is to change our inner conversations.

What Should We Be Saying?

  • One approach is called the three C's: Commitment, Control and Challenge.

Commitment
  • Make a positive commitment to yourself, to learning, work, family, friends, nature, and other worthwhile causes. Praise yourself and others. Dream of success. Be enthusiastic.

Control
  • Keep your mind focused on important things. Set goals and priorities for what you think and do. Visualize to practice your actions. Develop a strategy for dealing with problems. Learn to relax. Enjoy successes. Be honest with yourself.

Challenge
  • Be courageous. Change and improve each day. Do your best and don't look back. See learning and change as opportunities. Try new things. Consider several options. Meet new people. Ask lots of questions. Keep track of your mental and physical health. Be optimistic.

Studies show that people with these characteristics are winners in good times and survivors in hard times.

Research shows that, "... people who begin consciously to modify their inner conversations and assumptions report an almost immediate improvement in their performance. Their energy increases and things seem to go better ..."

Commitment, control and challenge help build self-esteem and promote positive thinking. Here are some other suggestions.

7 Suggestions for Building Positive Attitudes
  • In every class, look for positive people to associate with.
  • In every lecture, look for one more interesting idea.
  • In every chapter, find one more concept important to you.
  • With every friend, explain a new idea you've just learned.
  • With every teacher, ask a question.
  • With yourself, keep a list of your goals, positive thoughts and actions.
  • Remember, you are what you think, you feel what you want.

Update1

Its been quite some time since I last came in to blog. Things starts to get busy and there isn't much time to do everything. Sometimes I wonder why is there so much to do; been settling stuffs since then and it seems that the things won't be done. How come?

After Chinese New Year holidays, I came back to continue my studies. Enough of play for 1 week. Its more than enough and workload starts to pile up. Replacement classes are up and classes are everyday till 5-6pm. Its even longer than working hours. OMG....luckily there's no more than 24 hours in a day or the lecturers will have the replacement classes till 10pm.....noooooo I don't want that to happen.

Many things happened and I'm too lazy to type it out here...running out of time now...there's 2 tests on Saturday and I haven't even finish studying for it. How am I going to die now??? I just wish that there is always extra time to let me finish my works but seems like there isn't. Even if I sleep less, there isn't enough time to pass around. And another thing, sleeping less means getting moody faster. And when I'm moody, I rather keep to myself cause I afraid that I will burst out....and when that happens, everyone, including my good friends will get a good soclding from me. That is the time where the real me will show up and people will start to run away. It's good that they know to run. Some people doesn't and I wonder why. Aren't you afraid of the real me?

On what happened the past few weeks, I'll blog again later as I have to study for my mid-terms already. I am already running out of time...as I said, "so much things to do, yet so little time." Adios~
