First Day of CNY

Today is the first day of CNY and finally I can break the tradition of not having to eat vegetarian on the morning as breakfast. Every year I want to do so, I'll get some weird look from my mum. SO I was super happy today. I had bacons, sausage, and scramble eggs for breakfast. This is the first time in so many years that I can have western food during the first day of CNY. I had a late breakfast today, around 11am. Why so late? Its because suddenly my mum told me that there will be lion dance around 10am in the house.

The start of the show

Fighting for the cabbage

Finders', keepers' :P

But I want some :(

Ok, I'll share with U

Hye, not fair...altleast share please

Nooooo....

And chaos came, drinks in the freezer, angpaos needed to be readied for the lion dance crew, and furniture need to be moved so that the lions can get in the house. That is why I only managed to have my breakfast after 11am.

After that, my relatives came to visit. It's actually my grandma's relatives....the whole family came...making my house look small :( and there are not enough space to move or sit in the house. Outside is just too hot so no one will want to sit outside. Nevermind, it's just for a while....not for long...hehe.....they stayed for about an hour here. After they left, we're supposed to go for prayers at a temple, so off we go for prayers. We made it a quick one...hehe never had such a quick one before....then we went for lunch at McD's. Yes, prosperity burger....hahaha....During lunch, dad received a call from Malacca's relative. They said they are on their way to our place now. So we rush our lunch and went home. Just as we reach home, my sister's god-parents came and so we have to entertain them. But just that we are quite sleepy after lunch...so its such a bad-timing....after entertaining them for about half an hour, the Malacca relatives arrived. Omg...five cars and all are such big cars....so you can start imagining the amount of people that are coming in the house. The whole place had not enough place to sit. But they luckily their children all sits on the floor....and did I mention that this group of relative are Malays?! Yes..they are all Malays. Their mother converted to Malay...they stayed for about 2 hours....

After they left, I went to the Siamese temple with my neighbor. Its the first time I go in after so many years. It changed a lot. Came back and had a short rest before heading for dinner with the whole family again. Its because my sister and uncle are leaving tomorrow morning so we have to bring forward our 2nd reunion dinner to today. Had vegetarian food for dinner...and boy...I was full to the limit. Can't put in anymore.....need to go on diet.....MUST DIET!!!!!

Chat with my sisters and brother for a while before each of us were immersed in our own world....computer time....haha....

I'll try to upload the video of the lion dance next time...till then...chao :)

CNY Eve

Chinese New Year is here. Gong Xi Fa Cai....hope everyone have a wonderful new year and everything sails smoothly for the year ahead.

Surprisingly this year, we are free for the eve of CNY. I thought that my mum will be very busy with everything but it seems that there is nothing left ot be done. I think its because she already did all the things earlier. Its good to be free during the eve. Since I'm free, I am on my computer the whole time. Its so nice...Managed to do some of my stuffs but it seems that I don't have the mood to do so much today. Nevermind, I'll do it later.

My Chinese New Year begins with the reunion dinner with the whole family during the eve of CNY. Everyone gathered together to celebrate this special occasion. My sister and my uncle who are abroad came back to celebrate together with us. They arrived in PJ around 1500. While my mum cooks the food, we children continue with our things (computer and chit chatting around, hehe). My dad and my brother was in-charged of hanging the lights outside the house. This is we have a moderate celebration. We had steam chicken, big prawns, lotus root soup, veggie, and sea cucumber (I don't like it) for dinner.

After dinner, my parents went off to pray at the temple while we children stayed behind. We rather stay. Played some game on the computer, watch a movie...television has no nice movies. WOnder why....Then I'm off to bed. Why so early? ITs because I'm having a super bad headache the whole day and luckily it went off for a while in the afternoon. I think its because the weather is too hot. I can't stand too much heat or I'll get headache and feel dizzy. There goes my CNY eve, sleep super early.....but got distracted in the middle of the sleep due to incoming messages from my friends. Anyway, thanks for your wishes all....I'm sorry I didn't reply you because that night I'm really not myself.

Two weeks of challenges

Classes have already started for 2 weeks. Been rather busy with uni stuffs till lately. There seems to be not enough time in a day. Been in uni since morning 0840 till 1600-1700...some days 1400, some days till 1830. Only managed to reach home around 1830 - 1900. After that, go for dinner, but there are times when I was too tired to get out of the house. Just feel like staying at home, not going anywhere. Don't understand why is the timetable look so empty but my time are so packed. 6-subjects this semester but all also heavy subjects. And Utar changed some rules, where students who fail this semester will not be able to resit but can only repeat that subject. That makes it even difficult for me now. I have to work real hard now. Harder than last time.

Classes started on the 12/01. The first week of lectures was a disaster. So many things to do, so many places to go. Utar really helped me to exercise, making me walk from one block to another. And let me tell you, its not near. Luckily there wasn't any tutorial or practical classes on the first week, so I managed to go home early. But it doesn't make any difference, I still reach home around 1700, almost everyday.

Utar got a lot of new lecturers around. I got a few new lecturers and a few lecturers who got transferred from other Sungai Long, Setapak and PJ campus. The new lecturers seems nice but we have to look at long-term and not short-term. Just have to see...I also managed to get some lecturers who taught me last semester. Its just lucky to have them as my lecturer again. They are just too nice to let go. Hehe...Although there are some lecturers who did not teach me this semester, I still keep in touch with them. We meet around the campus or me and my friends will go and look for them for a chat. Its so nice to chat with them. Its just first week and there are already replacement classes. It is for the Chinese New Year holidays. First Saturday, first replacement class; Analysis and Design of Information System (SAD). Luckily its morning class. Had the first meeting for the society this week also. But its just an unofficial meeting. Just to discuss some stuffs with the committees.

Second week come and go. Much more things to do compared to last week. Proposal need to be hand in, tutorial classes started this week, more notes to photostat and be distributed. Class funds are drying so we have to fill it in...Luckily my course mates are understandable, they obliged to fill in the class funds. Reach home even later than the first week. There just seems not enough time for me in a day. Can I be greedy and have more? Each time I reach my room, I felt very tired but there are so many things to be done. Hopefully I can get used to it fast enough then I can do all my things. Assignments are due week 5; there are not only one assignment, but 4-5 assignments. How can we managed all?? Its just unreasonable to pack us like this. We need to study too.

My birthday also falls on this week but there seems no time for anything. Too many things need to be done. My friends are so good that they treated me to dinner. Thank you so much. They even bought me a cake. Thanks ;-)
My sis asked me what I want for my present but I can't think of anything yet so I told her don't know. Then she told me she has to think hard what to get me. I think she's going to crack her head thinking. She asked me the same question last Christmas and I gave her the same answer. I think she gave up in the end because she still asked me on new year eve what I want for Christmas. Hahaha....

Yeah Friday, 23/01 came and there was no classes today. Don't be too happy, class was postponed due to lecturer took leave. Replacing next week. :-( Today is also the day I'm coming home for CNY holidays. Yes, one week. Yeah!!!!! Took the KTM train at 1734 and guess what, the train was really on time. Luckily. Read some books in the train. Luckily I have my notebook with me or I'll be bored. Reach KL Sentral around 2000 and me and my friends went our own way. I need to buy Putra ticket back to Taman Jaya, so that's where I went. OMG!!! The line was super long and the ticket vending machine only accept coins. And that is one thing that I don't have. I changed line three times and finally I lined up at the ticket counter. Half-an-hour gone like that. I wonder is it because everyone wants to go home that the KL Sentral was packed. Reached home around 2115 and had KFC for dinner. Was too hungry to think or do anything else. Food is the most important now.

Time to wrap things up...

2008 has gone and here come 2009.
Time to wrap up things...

January
This is the time where most of us will be busy as this is the time where we university students are going to have our final exams and also deadline for assignments. The beginning of the month is where we all get busy with the deadlines for assignments and also to catch up on the subjects that we are weak in. Many questions came popping up but there are just too many so I just concentrate on the important questions. Then came finals. The finals started on the 21st, which is my birthday. But luckily I managed to forget about the birthday as exams are much much more important compared to birthday. Celebrated earlier with my close friends by treating them for lunch. I did not tell them what is the lunch for; except just asking them to go for lunch with me. So it turned out that they only realized after a few weeks, the start of our third semester. Hahaha...Finals came and went but there is a unlucky day for us during the exam week. We have to replace one of our papers because of the public holiday. They replaced our paper on the same day as our next paper, which means there are 2 papers on the same day...our exam on that day lasted till 8pm...Thanks to the paper that we replace. Exams lasted for 2 weeks with the last paper being mathematics, a paper that I poured a lot of effects in it but didn't manage to get what I want...

February
Its Chinese New Year month. Finals just finished and here comes my shopping days. Time to catch up on the shoppings that I missed during the exam periods. This year's fashion...Polo tees...hehe. I know it’s just normal shirts but I kind a grew in love with them this year so I bought a lot of polo tees...all different colors....black, brown, blue, red, maroon, orange, white, and pink. I was thinking of getting lime green but there isn't any lime green available. So I have no choice but to settle for these few colors first. Did not manage to get any jeans this year round as my mum was complaining of all the jeans in my cupboard. Chinese New Year came and went. Lots of angpau coming in this year...yahoo. Finished Chinese New Year then its time to start classes again...the 3rd and final semester for foundation year is beginning. Although there are only 2 subjects to cope with this semester, but I still need to put in extra efforts for the remaining 2 subjects to pull up my cgpa. I need the cgpa...

March
Nothing much happened this month except the rush to face deadlines for assignments. Omg...why is it that we are always rushing for assignments? Oh ya...a few of us took of to Sitiawan and Kampar for the weekend to get away from all the stress we face in PJ. It was a nice trip.

April
Exams are coming!!! Oh no....I don't have much confidence on this 2 papers...I'm so worried now...sleepless nights are coming again...why is it that we have to go through all this in our life? Luckily it's only 2 days and it passed smoothly and fast too...Time to celebrate as the exams are over but its also a sad thing because after this we are all going to meet in Kampar, Perak. Our courses all are shifting to Kampar Campus and I have to shift there too...oh noooooo....I rather stay in PJ to continue my studies here but why there isn't any chance of us staying here??? Treated 'sis' to lunch as it was her birthday this month.

May
The holiday month...yeah...but also the farewell month for me. I have to leave to Kampar to continue my studies. I'm going to miss the shopping complexes here, the foods here, my family, my high school friends, and mostly my dear 'sis', whom I have grown close too for the past four months. Left for Kampar the on 20th as it was a holiday that day. Settled fast there but was kind of bored there at the beginning as there isn't any entertainment there for us. Orientation was on 22th, but we went and register ourselves only. After that we went back to continue our sleep and went for lunch after that. Classes officially starts on the 26th and here we go again, making new friends, and adapting back to the student life. But its different compared to the life we have in PJ here. Slowly start to get used to the life here, attending classes, having lunch n dinner together with friends, and hanging out together.

June 08
My phone bill shoot to almost RM200 this month. As the life here is bored, I relied on my phone most of the time to communicate with my friends and 'sis'. Classes are getting interesting day by day, tutorials are getting tougher day by day, workloads are getting heavier day by day...assignments start to come one by one. Luckily the assignments come in batches, after handing in one then come the next one. Well, life goes on even if you don't want to. Just how you handle them...

July
Mid-terms are coming soon. And I couldn't believe myself; one by one my course mates are getting sick. And soon, it was my turn to get sick; fever, flu, cough....all come together...and the fever lasted 2 weeks...its because I did not went and see a doctor during the first week of my fever...I did not tell anyone about my sickness except those in Kampar...only after my fever has gone then only I told other people. And they were like "What??? Why didn't tell me??" I told them its nothing. Not to worry.

August
Assignments are coming again...this time there are 3 different subjects that comes together...and deadlines are so near to each other!!! OMG!!!

September
Final exams are around the corner!!!! The time to stay up and study...I don't seem to get enough sleep nowadays due to the stress I'm having. Study stress is one of the things that I cannot handle properly. My eye bags are getting bigger and darker day by day. How am I going to make them disappear??? Luckily 'sis' is there to help me reduce my stress. She's the one that ask me to go sleep or else I'm going to be a zombie. And she's the one that make sure that I do not oversleep or else I won't have enough time to study. Last paper was a long wait. It's gap between the 2nd last paper was 3 days...omg...so hard to concentrate to study...
Finally, it’s over and PJ, HERE I COME BACK!!! I can't wait to meet up with 'sis'. I really need to thank her for all the support she gave me during this month.

October
Three months breaks starts here...Been meeting up with my 'sis' and all..Catching up with each other...other than that, I was just staying at home online...hehe...had been rotting at home!!

November
1 month passed and I'm still not working. Many of my friends are all working but I'm still rotting at home. I didn't want to work because there isn't another 3 months holiday after this. I want to enjoy while I can. I missed many of those outstation trips but I cannot afford to go now as I am having financial strain. I need to save so that I can shop and pay my bills later on.

December
My 2nd sister is coming back this month and I can't wait. Right after she came back, we went for movies, shopping together. Well, most of it I paid. Bought a lot of things for her. I also bought a lot of things for my other siblings. Its the month of Christmas, the month of exchanging gifts. Unfortunately, I did not get Christmas presents from anybody this year. Although 'sis' asked me what I want for Christmas, I did not respond to her question because I did not know what I really want. I did get what 'sis' want, which is "Twilight" series and I managed to get the whole set for her...although she paid me back for 3 books...

New Place

Went back to Kampar to clean up the new house. I did not plan to be so long there but I have no choice because on the way there, my friend's car got problem and it delayed me. Luckily my housemates were also delayed. In the end, we only reach the house at 1530, after lunch. Start cleaning the whole place right after that. The whole place is so dirty. Although the floor has been mopped by my friend the day before, but it is still very dirty. I wonder the owner got come and clean it or not. While cleaning halfway, we went to Uni to collect our results and bills. We left my friend's mum and my friend there to continue cleaning the place while we went to collect our stuffs. I felt sorry but we have no choice because the office will close soon. The owner sent representatives over but they only managed to meet us at 1800. And that was the time we plan to leave for Ipoh. But unfortunately, there is no choice. Discussed the stuffs with them, told them the problems about the house and we settled our rents, since there is still one empty room available. Had dinner and went back around 2100. Reached home around 2330 and I was super tired because of not enough sleep. I had a party on Saturday night, went Genting on Sunday, and Kampar on Monday. That is why I am tired. Hopefully I can regain my energy back these few days before I go back to Kampar to start my classes.

Some Information about Lipstick

LIPSTICK INFORMATION:

Something to consider
Next time you go shopping for
Lipstick......

This comes from someone
Who works in the breast cancer unit at
Mt. Sinai Hospital , in Toronto .

From: Dr. Nahid Neman

If there is a female you care anything about,

Share this with her. I did!!!!!

I am also sharing this with the males on my e-mail list,
Because they need to tell the females

THEY care about as well!

Recently a lipstick brand called 'Red Earth'

Decreased their prices from $67 to $9.90.

It contained lead.

Lead is a chemical which causes cancer.

The lipstick brands that contain lead are:

CHRISTIAN DIOR

LANCÔME

CLINIQUE

Y.S...L

ESTEE LAUDER

SHISEIDO

RED EARTH (Lip Gloss)

CHANEL (Lip Conditioner)

MARKET AMERICA-MOTNES LIPSTICK.

The higher the lead content,

The greater the chance of causing cancer.

After doing a test on lipsticks,

It was found that the Y.S.L. Lipstick
Contained the most amount of lead.

Watch out for those lipsticks
Which are supposed to stay longer.

If your lipstick stays longer, it is
Because of the higher content of lead.

Here is the test you can do yourself:

1. Put some lipstick on your hand.

2. Use a Gold ring to scratch on the lipstick.

3. If the lipstick colour changes to black,

Then you know the lipstick contains lead.

Five (5) lessons to make you think about the way we treat people

1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.

During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read the last one:

"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall,
dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name?

I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.

"Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say "hello."

I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain

One night, at11:30 p.m., an older African American woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car. A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s. The man
took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab.

She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A special note was attached..

It read:
"Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away... God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others."

Sincerely,
Mrs. Nat King Cole.

3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those who serve.

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.

"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked.

"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled is hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it.

"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired.

By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient.

"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied.

The little boy again counted his coins.

"I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies..

You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

4 - Fourth Important Lesson. - The obstacle in Our Path.

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the
peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us never understand!

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts...

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare &serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.

I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes I'll do it if it will save her." As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded.

He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away".

Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.

Most importantly.................. "Work like you
don't need the money, love like you've never been
hurt, and dance like you do when nobody's watching."

NOW more than ever - Peace...
